Classically trained, contemporarily inspired, Alena Taylor has always been driven by her excitement, passion, and love of vocal performance. As a daughter of a musician, music has always been an influential, if not integral, part of her life. From solo to choir performances, she has shared her love for the art through various organizations, schools, and churches in her hometown of Moose Lake, Minnesota and around the world.
Inspired by her former vocal instructor, Alena first undertook studies at St. Cloud State University where she honed her skills studying vocal performance. She was an active member of the St. Cloud State Women’s Chorus and University Choir, which carried her all the way to Russia for several performances. She also performed several convocational solos while enrolled at St. Cloud State, as well as public and private solo performances while traveling Germany and Belgium. In 2001, Alena moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music.
While at Berklee, Alena refocused her studies to include education, performance, and business to better prepare for vocal instruction. She also expanded her vocal talents by stepping outside the traditional classical training to embrace other vocal styles, including pop, rock, jazz, country, and R&B. Alena began tutoring while attending Berklee, a tremendous joy she embraced warmly until graduating in December of 2004 with a Bachelor of Music.
After having spent time with the Cambridge Community Chorus, Alena continued to share her love of music through private vocal instruction in late 2004. Her patient and enthusiastic personality, combined with an ever-expanding knowledge base of the vocal arts, would lead her to teach at the Page Music Lesson Center in Boston. Today, students both past and present can’t help but share Alena’s eagerness for learning music, coming away from lessons with confidence and inspiration to grow and share their own vocal talents. |
